Fact-Checking Policy

Effective Date: August 7, 2025

Our Commitment to Accuracy

a) Factonisam is dedicated to publishing accurate information across all its content. We employ rigorous methods to ensure accuracy, including investigating claims with skepticism, questioning assumptions, and challenging conventional wisdom.

b) We strive for due accuracy in all our output, which is essential to our reputation and the trust of our audience. ‘Due accuracy’ means that the level of accuracy is appropriate to the content’s subject and nature, with any constraints explicitly stated that may affect expectations.

c) All our content, as appropriate to its nature, must be well-sourced, based on available evidence, and corroborated. We are transparent about what we don’t know and avoid unfounded speculation.

d) Our journalists do not deliberately plagiarize or knowingly distort facts, context, or visual information.

e) We seek independent verification from sources to confirm claims, allegations, or information, particularly those made by public officials or individuals with agendas beyond reporting the truth. Uncorroborated claims, allegations, or material facts are typically attributed.

f) Factonisam stands by the accuracy of its published information. If inaccuracies are identified, we correct the content as swiftly as possible. We do not knowingly mislead our audience or present fabricated material as fact, as this undermines trust. Serious factual errors are acknowledged and corrected promptly, clearly, and appropriately.

g) We offer the public a fair opportunity to report inaccuracies or errors in our content through the ‘Submit a Correction’ section, available at the end of every published web article.

h) Our journalists are primarily responsible for reporting, writing, and fact-checking stories. Stories undergo review by one or more editors. Factonisam employs a multi-level fact-checking process for stories requiring due diligence, with the seniority of reviewing editors varying based on factors such as complexity, sensitivity, and time constraints.

Our Correction Policies

While Factonisam strives for excellence and accuracy, we acknowledge that errors may occasionally occur. When they do, Factonisam takes responsibility for correcting them and maintains transparency to ensure inaccurate information does not spread.

The following steps outline how we achieve accuracy, transparency, and excellence:

Readers’ Role

If a reader identifies an error, they should contact the editor-in-chief, Sarah Thompson, immediately via email, phone, mail, or in person:

Email: news@factonisam.com
Subject: Correction Request

Corrections are not considered officially submitted until they reach the editor-in-chief directly. Submissions to other Factonisam staff may not be addressed promptly or at all.

Corrections should include:

  • The specific error
  • The date or article title where the error appeared
  • Where the error was seen (e.g., website, social media)
  • The reader’s name and contact information (phone or email)
  • The correct information and, if applicable, a source (e.g., official documents or meeting minutes)

Readers can expect a response from the editor-in-chief and may be contacted for further clarification or information. Submitting a correction triggers an investigation, but it does not guarantee a correction will be issued.

Factonisam’s Role

Upon receiving a correction request, the editor-in-chief will investigate using the reader’s provided information, reporter’s notes, recordings, or other available sources.

If an error is confirmed, corrections will be issued in all mediums where the inaccurate information appeared:

Website:
The article will be updated, and an editor’s note will be added at the bottom, detailing the error and the date of correction.

Social Media:
If the erroneous content was shared on platforms like Twitter, Facebook, or other Factonisam-controlled mediums, a post will link to the corrected article and note the correction.

Print (if applicable):
Corrections will appear on page 2A of the next published issue, specifying the issue, article, incorrect information, and the correction.

Once corrected, the editor-in-chief will inform the reader who submitted the correction about the steps taken to address the error.
